What is the advantage of an app that combines science, music and math?
When children learn, one presentation reinforces another, like hearing facts about caterpillars, seeing the animations, and then singing a realistic song about them. This makes learning more effective and permanent.
How can an iPad app be effective for teaching music?
Children learn best through a combination of seeing, hearing and feeling. Watching notes, hearing them and having them respond to touch allows children to develop a more complete understanding of music notation.
Why is it important for children to read music?
Research has shown that the brain gains children receive from musical experiences are directly tied to reading and making music.
What is the icon in the top right corner?
This is a menu to help you navigate easily to other sections of the app
What does the option button do?
It allows you to see the music section with a simplified staff (only the 4 lines needed in the song), or with the solfege syllables (do, re, mi etc) placed on the staff.
I touched a critter but nothing happened. Why?
If a critter in the science section doesn’t respond, it may be waiting for another animation or dialogue to finish. In the music section, the critters are not animated by touch.
How will I know if I do a musical activity correctly?
You will hear an affirmation like “good job” and see a critter move.
How can I tell what I did wrong?
